Shuniya Anointing Oil
Shuniya Anointing Oil
I created Shuniya for a kundalini yoga instructor to use in her practice, asking her to give me the name she would choose for the blend and choosing her favorite oils from my collection as my starting point. I had never heard the word shuniya before, but sat with the energy of it, and the components of the blend came together in the time it took for her to walk to the market and back. She was stunned when she came in and I handed it to her, in it's completed form. And, most importantly, she absolutely loved it! I told her that what came through the blending of components was the intention to help bring the mind to a place of stillness. She smiled big, looking surprised, and then told me what the name means. In the kundalini yoga tradition, Shuniya means "the still point." It is a state of consciousness where deep healing can occur. I saw that this oil was a complement to Zen, which was also created to bring everything to the center. However, where Zen was created to facilitate in traditional meditation, Shuniya would be it's counterpart for mindfulness through movement, or physical-based meditation. Not restricted only to forms of yoga, this scent would be great to apply for any kind of physical activity (dancing, running, martial arts, etc...) where the intent is to find "the zone" and lose yourself in the movement.
Scent profile: Shuniya is light, bright and perfectly lovely. The notes are beautifully balanced between citrus, floral and herbal. It smells fresh and clean, like just-washed linens swaying in the breeze on a clothesline on a warm, sunny day.
